Travis Scott Makes First Televised performance Since Astroworld Tragedy

Travis Scott made his first live televised performance since the 2021 Astroworld tragedy at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.

The rapper performed his songs Mafia and Lost Forever in his first televised performance since Astroworld festival tragedy last November that left 10 dead and hundreds injured.

Scott was introduced by BMA hosts Sean "Diddy" Combs and French Montana.

Last week Diddy had hinted at Scott's performance, revealing that he was responsible for getting him booked.

"This just in," Diddy said in the video shared to Instagram account. "For the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday I made a request; I made a demand. I said, 'My brother Travis Scott has to perform. I'm executive producing, he has to perform; and NBC said, Yes; It's going down Sunday, Travis Scott will be performing ..... now that's love."

While Scott has returning to performing publicly, his legal battles tied to the 2021 Astroworld Tragedy are far from over.

Rolling Stone reported that new court fillings also from last week revealed how many concertgoers were injured in the 2021 Astroworld tragedy.

The outlet further revealed that attorneys had pushed that along with the 10 deaths, there were 732 claims tied to injuries that required extensive medical treatment, 1649 tied to less extensive treatment, and 2,540 claims for injuries where the severity is still under review, totalling over 4,900 claims for deaths and injuries at the festival.

Last weekend, Scott was also named in a lawful death suit filed by Shanazia Williamson, who alleged that she had a miscarriage after the fatal Astroworld event.

In the suit, Williamson claims that the lack of preparation by the show's organisers caused her injuries and the death of her and her husband's unborn child.

Since the Astroworld Tragedy, Travis Scott has maintained a relatively low profile.
