Netflix Cancels 'Raising Dion' After Two Seasons

 


Netflix has reportedly cancelled superhero series Raising Dion just months after its second season aired.

The Series based on a comic book of the same name by Dennis Liu first premiered in 2019 and ended with its second and last season, which premiered in February 2022.

Announcing the news, cast member Sammi Haney wrote on Instagram, "Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELLED [sic] Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans! Season 2 was a success, equal to Season 1, even if just looking at how many people watched all of it and wanted a Season 3!"

The actress also hinted at her readiness to take on other roles now that the show was over.

"The only "silver Lining" is that this does free me up to pursue other roles. My Netflix contract kept me from accepting other major roles offered to me (1 actually written with me in mind) on other tv shows! So if you work for a major studio, hit me up again, I'm ready!"

Raising Dion follows Nicole (Alisha Wainwright), whose son Dion (Ja'Siah Young) develops superhero abilities as she tries to keep him safe from those looking to exploit his powers.

The show was executive produced by Barbee, Michael B. Jordan, Kenny Goodman, Liu, Michael Green, Darren Grant, MACRO's Charles D. King, Marta Fernandez and Poppy hanks.

The series was adapted for the screen by Emmy-winning writer Carol Denise Barbee, Known for her work on Judging Amy, where she also served as executive producer, and the TNT series Falling Skies
