Will Smith Resigns from Academy After Slapping Chris Rock at Oscars

 


Will Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences after slapping presenter Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony. " I betrayed the trust of the Academy".

 "The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, His Family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home", Smith said in the statement. "I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken."

 He said he will accept "any and all" additional consequences for his actions, adding, "I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film."

 Academy president David Rubin said he has received and  accepted Smith's resignation, He said the Academy "will continue to move forward with our disciplinary proceedings against Mr Smith for violations of the Academy's standards of Conduct in Advance of our next scheduled board meeting on April 18".

By resigning, Will Smith, can no longer vote in future Academy Awards.

  It looks like Chris Brown is now a dad No:3.  The Singer appeared to confirm that he welcomed his third child, a daughter named "Lovely Symphani Brown". when he re-shared Diamond Brown's photo celebrating the baby girl's three month birthday on April 7.
